In case you thought that we just didn’t have enough trailers for Star Trek Into Darkness, you’re in luck. Yet another trailer has been released, and this one provides us with some assurance that at least part of the movie will in fact take place in space. In fact, it looks like Benedict Cumberbatch’s character John Harrison has his own ship. It’s a black ship so that we know he’s the bad guy, and it looks much bigger than the Enterprise. Is he compensating for something? Maybe he feels his Blue Steel is inferior to Chris Pines’s. You can check out the trailer below:
But that’s not all. Another two character posters have been released as well, both in a similar vein to the recently released posters of Spock and Uhura. One has Kirk from a scene we’ve seen in trailers of him running on an alien planet. As for the second poster, does it feature another crew member? No, it’s more Cumberbatch of course! I think they might be trying to capture him from every angle, because first we saw him from the back, then from the front, and now he’s twirling around or caught in a wind tunnel or something. You can see the posters here:
Star Trek Into Darkness premieres May 9 in the UK and May 17 in the US. What do you think of the new trailer? The posters? Let us know in the comments below!
His Blue Steel is inferior to Chris Pine’s. Given the way they’ve been promoting this movie, I’d say that all of your modeling allusions are very appropriate.
Cumberbatch’s Blue Steel doesn’t come anywhere close.
It feels like this movie is focusing more and more on flashy things, at least in the ads for it. I hope the plot and characters actually have enough development or I’m going to be one disappointed Trekkie.
Given the first movie, I’m pretty confident that it’s all just how the trailers are being made. Especially this close to release, they don’t want to divulge any details, so they’re just focusing on surface/image stuff.
That said, if there isn’t any development, then I demand a Blue Steel catwalk face-off between Pine and Cumberbatch on the DVD.
Seconded!
