Its premiere episode was such a hit on Starz (2.14 million viewers, largest ever for the premium cable network), that Da Vinci’s Demons has already been given a second season order.
The show, which is a highly colored tale of Leonardo Da Vinci’s youth, is the brainchild of David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel, among countless other projects), and is executive produced by both Jane Trantner and Julie Garder (names any Whovian will recognize as two of the ladies instrumental in the return of Doctor Who in 2005). It’s part of BBC Worldwide’s production deal with the network, established when production began on Torchwood: Miracle Day.
Da Vinci’s Demons airs Friday nights on Starz.
