Ocean at the End of the Lane coverNeil Gaiman’s newest book, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, hasn’t even been released yet, but there’s already a film adaptation planned. The production company Playtone, which is already working on the HBO series adapted from Gaiman’s American Gods, is currently working on a deal to adapt the novel. Joe Wright (Atonement, Anna Karenina) is reportedly going to direct. The novel, a dark modern fantasy set in the English countryside, is very short at only 192 pages, but it must pack a lot of punch for a movie deal to be in the works before its June 18 release date.

Looking forward to the book? How about the film? Adding this to the list of books/movies you want to read/see, or to your list of reasons why Gaiman is taking over the world? Let us know in the comments below!
