South Korean Air Force Parodies Les Mis

les mis poster

The South Korean Air Force has released an official Les Miserables parody video, and it’s frankly stunning.  In fact, parody doesn’t seem like quite the right word, because although the video is a bit tongue-in-cheek, it’s really respectful of the music.

Because holy crap, what are they putting in the water at the Air Force barracks?  These guys can sing.  Of course, when one considers that South Korean men are required to serve in the military, there’s probably a number of theater-caliber vocalists enlisted at any given time. The video is obvious PR, but it’s also clearly a morale-booster for the soldiers.  It’s definitely the most fabulous military PR I’ve ever seen.

The video is super fun, and much more fantastic than any “Gangnam Style” parody they could have done.  The South Korean Air Force has just upped the game.  U.S. or Royal (U.K.) Navies: the only appropriate response is a Gilbert & Sullivan parody.  Someone get on that, stat.

For those who haven’t seen the South Korean Air Force’s video yet, I’ve embedded it below.  Then let us know what you think in the comments below: is this awesome, hilarious, or meh?
