We have some goodies for you this Halloween season! There have been a few casting updates for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, including (spoilers!) a potential new villain. We already have The Winter Soldier himself, the brainwashed and not as dead as we thought Bucky Barnes played by Sebastian Stan, but apparently they have also cast Frank Grillo as Crossbones. The introduction of Crossbones suggests an interesting possible direction for the new film, seeing as how he was involved in the Cap’s supposed death following the Marvel Civil War (not to be confused with the American Civil War, which contained fewer superheroes).
In other news, Scarlett Johansson will be returning as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff aka the Black Widow, while Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton/Hawkeye has yet to be confirmed. Cobie Smulders, who played Maria Hill in The Avengers, is also listed as a cast member, so it looks like S.H.I.E.L.D. will be playing a big part in the film. Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which will deal with the aftermath of both the first Captain America and The Avengers, will be released April 4th, 2014 in theaters.

It all sounds good to me! I want the focus to be on the Winter Soldier, so I guess I’ll get a bit nervous if I think they will load the movie with too many other people, and not give the story line the time it deserves. But I’m feeling optimistic right now, so yay!
