Last week we reported that Matthew Vaughn was stepping down from directing X-Men: Days of Future Past, the sequel to X-Men: First Class. There was speculation at the time that Bryan Singer, producer on the film and the director of the first two installments in the X-Men movie franchise, would take over for Vaughn. We can now confirm that Singer has in fact agreed to return to directing for X-Men, at least this once.
X-Men: Days of Future Past, the next part of a planned prequel trilogy, is scheduled for release on July 18, 2014. Looking forward to Singer’s return? Let us know in the comments below!
I still wish Vaughn hadn’t backed out, but I think I’m okay with this. Singer did a good job with the first two X-men films.
I concur. I liked First Class, but at least they’ve chosen a good replacement.
