Are the Crowley’s broke? I’m assuming that’s the only way you can really take lines like Lord Grantham’s “The money’s gone,” and the Dowager Countess’ talking about how useless a manor house is without servants. That’s just a little of what we get from two new trailers, released from both ITV and PBS, who air the show in the UK and US.
Take a look at the trailers, and let us know in the comments below what your thoughts are so far. And who you think wins this battle of trailers – the UK or US? Our vote goes to the UK, as usual.
Downton Abbey returns to ITV on 16th September, and us poor Americans have to wait for PBS to get their hands on it, which won’t be till 13th January, 2013.
And don’t forget to pick up your copy of the Limited Edition Seasons 1 & 2 box set from Amazon.
Hmmm, well, the British trailer certainly has better atmosphere, and it gives us way more tantalizing glimpses of what everyone is up to. However, those are all so short I found myself pausing and rewinding several times in the trailer, which was frustrating. Though an argument could be made for how that really engaged me and sucked me in, so the trailer did its job well.
The American one was a bit more coherent, and I think it gave a better sense of what, overall, the season is about, which is also sort of the point of trailers. Soooo…I’m going to be one of those annoying on-the-fence people and be like, can’t we have both? This is why being on the Internet and having access to ALL the things is the best.
