Good news for Marvel lovers and Whedonites! It has just been announced via Disney Investors Conference Call that Joss Whedon will return for The Avengers sequel. Whedon has previously been conflicted about returning but he has signed to both write and direct the film. The release date is believed to be the Summer of 2015 for the Avengers sequel though Disney has not formally made an announcement.
Disney has also confirmed that Whedon will be involved in the development of a live action series that will be set in the Marvel cinematic universe for ABC.
The Avengers is the third highest grossing film of all time and the highest grossing film Disney has ever distributed.
