Agent Coulson may be gone (sob), but that doesn’t mean Marvel are through with their short films. Details have emerged of a new One-shot to be featured on the DVD & Blu-ray for The Avengers.
Item 47 takes place immediately following the events of The Avengers, and tells the story of a couple who literally had an alien weapon land in their lap after the large New York City battle that took place in the film. The couple decide to use the weapon to rob a few banks, get a boat, and head for the Caribbean. You almost can’t blame them, for who wouldn’t want to get the hell out of dodge after what they just lived through? Of course, their methods are to be desirable.
The film is the longest of the Marvel One-Shots to date, with a running time of 12 minutes, and could be the beginning of a true series as Marvel Studios considers using the shorts as a vehicle to introduce other Marvel superheroes and to generally expand the Marvel on screen universe.
There’s always a potential to introduce a character. We have 8,000 of them, and they can’t all be at the same level. So maybe there are some that are not so popular, and we introduce them [with a short] — and they take off. I could see that happening. – Louis D’Esposito, Marvel Studios Co-President.
Word is that the clip will be premiered at San Diego Comic Con during the Marvel/Disney panel on July 12th, and will be available to the masses on The Avengers discs released on July 25th.

They need to stop talking about the home release and just go ahead and release it. I can’t wait, I want it nooowwww. And yes, it’s only been two months since it came out in theaters. But it’s Avengers, I waaant ittttttt.
Heh, I know how you feel. There’s been whisperings of a theatrical release of the Director’s Cut as well, at the same time or just before the DVD goes on sale. I’d be all over that.
I know I heard that too! Me too, it would be amazing. I’m glad they’re including some of these features on the DVD’s. Sometimes now it’s all only on the Blu-Ray, so then I’d want to buy a Blu-Ray player, and I don’t want to have to replace all of my dvd’s. I bought the first dvd player in my family’s household as a teenager so I could get all the special features on the LOTR dvd’s.
