Five Totally Awesome Things You Missed the First Time Around – The Fantasy Edition

Tin Man:

Stats: a mini-series that aired on SyFy in 3 parts in 2007

Starring: Zooey Deschanel, Neal McDonough, Alan Cumming, Raoul Trujillo, Kathleen Robertson, Richard Dreyfuss

Why you might have missed it: It was a four and a half hour mini-series that only aired on SyFy.

Summary: DG gets transported to the Outer Zone (O.Z.). Except, it isn’t the Oz that we know and love. Things are very different. O.Z. is ruled by a sorceress-queen Azkadellia, a tyrannical witch, analogous to the Wicked Witch of the West. Azkadellia sends her Longcoat soldiers through a storm to try and kill the protagonist DG, played by Deschanel. DG gets transported to O.Z. and then meets her scarecrow – a man with half a brain called Glitch, her Tin Man – Wyatt Cain a former law-enforcer and her lion – a viewer named Raw. Together, the four travel to various places in O.Z. to uncover the reason why Azkadellia wants DG dead, DG’s past, and the reasons behind O.Z.’s current bleak and somber state.

Why it is AWESOME: It’s a continuation of the story of from The Wizard of Oz and it’s great. Alan Cumming is divine. The costumes and effects are awesome and the plot twist in the story is one that you won’t see coming.

How can you see it?: Amazon.com has all the episodes streaming for $4.99 OR you can get the DVDs from Netflix.
