  • Ever wonder why Disney didn’t make a stage musical of Aladdin?  We now have one — it just started performances at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre.  Directed by Tony winner Casey Nicholaw.
  • Trevor Nunn will direct Ralph Fiennes and Elisabeth Hopper in The Tempest, beginning 27 August at Theatre Royal Haymarket.  (Courtesy Playbill Online.)

  • In the continuing efforts to save London’s Dress Circle Theatre shop, musical theatre performers are gathering for a Benefit Gala on 7 August at Her Majesty’s Theatre.  Looks to be a great show!
  • Mark Rylance, who won the Best Actor Tony for his performance in Jerusalem, will join the production as it returns to the West End this fall.  (Reports What’s On Stage.)
