  • Michael CeraMichael Cera has signed on for Magic, Magic.  A story about a young girl who goes to Chile with some friends, only to lose her mental faculties while she’s there.  From Empire.
  • Focus Features has acquired distribution rights to a new romantic comedy starring Steve Carrell and Keira Knightley.  Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is about two people looking for love amid the apocalypse.  The film is scheduled to begin production soon.  From Entertainment Weekly.
  • Christopher Walken and Mickey Rourke have joined the cast of Seven Psychopaths, the new film from the mastermind behind In Bruges.
  • The Hollywood Reporter has the story behind one of the films showing at Cannes this week, A Tortoise in Love, which was financed by three small villages in England.
  • Matthew Goode and Alex Pettyfer are in negotiations to star in the crime thriller Overdrive.  From Digital Spy.
  • Also from Digital Spy, Warner Bros has announced the release date for Tim Burton’s next project, the gothic soap opera Dark Shadows.  It will premiere (presumably in the US?) on 11th May, 2012.
  • The first trailer for Fright Night has hit the web, though The Hollywood Reporter notes that missing in action is David Tennant, supposedly one of the more major characters.
  • Lionsgate has acquired the U.K. distribution rights for three hot titles: romantic comedy Playing the Field,  a “one last heist before going straight” drama called Medallion, and the psychological thriller Trap for Cinderella.  From the Hollywood Reporter.
