In Sarah Michelle Gellar’s return to TV, she leaves behind the titular role of Buffy the Vampire Slayer to play Bridget, a former stripper and recovering addict who witnesses a murder, goes on the run, and then takes the place of her wealthy twin sister Siobhan (also played by Gellar), who has apparently committed suicide. She quickly discovers that her sister’s life is not as golden as it appeared: her marriage to the handsome Andrew Martin (played by Ioan Gruffudd) is on the rocks, and she’s been having an affair with her best friend’s husband, Henry (played by Kristoffer Polaha). In addition, Bridget must try to avoid being tracked down by FBI Agent Victor Machado (Nestor Carbonell), as well as the crime boss who committed the murder she witnessed in the first place. It’s noir, it’s soapy, and it’s full of unexpected plot twists.
