Agatha Christie’s The Pale Horse to premiere on Amazon Prime

The Pale Horse Agatha ChristieAmazon Prime will be premiering the latest Agatha Christie adaptation, The Pale Horse, based on the 1961 novel of the same name and starring award-winning actor Rufus Sewell (The Man in the High Castle).

The two-episode mystery was adapted by BAFTA-nominated writer Sarah Phelps, who has also been behind several Christie adaptations in the last few years including And Then There Were None, The Witness for the Prosecution, Ordeal by Innocence, and The A.B.C. Murders.

Here is the official synopsis of the miniseries:

“When a murder investigation is launched into the death of a young woman, a mysterious list of names is discovered in her shoe, prompting an inquiry not only to find the killer but also to understand the list of names. One of those named is Mark Easterbrook (Rufus Sewell). He embarks on an investigation into how and why his name came to appear on the list; an investigation that leads him to The Pale Horse—the peculiar home of a trio of rumored witches in the beautiful village of Much Deeping. Past and present collide for Mark as he uncovers ties between his deceased first wife, Delphine (Georgina Campbell) and the witches. As more people named on the list are found dead, Mark starts to fear for his own life and sanity. Despite Mark’s skepticism of the paranormal, he cannot help but be consumed by the increasingly strange and extraordinary things happening around him. Is this too the work of the witches of The Pale Horse, and does this mean he is next on their list? Or can he find a rational explanation and identify the killer before they catch up with him?”

Joining Sewell and Campbell in the stellar cast are Kaya Scodelario (Spinning Out) as Hermia Easterbrook, Bertie Carvel (Doctor Foster) as Zachariah Osborne, Sean Pertwee (Gotham) as Inspector Stanley Lejeune, Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Killing Eve) as David Ardingly, Poppy Gilbert (Call the Midwife) as Thomasina Tuckerton, Madeleine Bowyer (Black Mirror) as Jessie Davis, Ellen Robertson (Snowflake) as Poppy, Sarah Woodward (Queens of Mystery) as Clemency Ardingly, and Claire Skinner (Vanity Fair) as Yvonne Tuckerton. Completing the cast as the trio of witches are Rita Tushingham (Vera) playing Bella, Sheila Atim (Girl from the North Country) playing Thyrza Grey, and Kathy Kiera Clarke (Derry Girls) playing Sybil Stamfordis.

The Pale Horse will premiere on March 13 on Amazon Prime.
