SDCC 2019: First trailer for Westworld season 3

Westworld Season 3HBO unveiled the first trailer for the highly-anticipated third season of its sci-fi drama, Westworld, which is due to air next year.

More content for the new season of Westworld was released during this year’s San Diego Comic Con though still not a lot of details about what’s going to go down once certain hosts make their way into the outside world.

According to a report by Gizmodo, Westworld creator Jonathan Nolan confirmed that the theme for this season would be “The New World” as opposed to season one’s “The Maze” and season two’s “The Door.”

Westworld is still driven by powerful and intriguing female leads such as Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores, Thandie Newton’s Maeve, and Tessa Thompson’s Charlotte Hale. Dolores is out for blood, as usual, and determined to bring down the outside world that she now finds so disgusting. Maeve seems to be star of a new, World War II-themed park complete with 1940s fashion and Nazi imagery.

We catch glimpses of Jeffrey Wright’s Bernard, who is on a mission to find someone strong enough to challenge Dolores (implied to be Maeve), Luke Hemsworth’s Ashley Stubbs, and Ed Harris’s William, looking worse for wear while imprisoned. The trailer also shows some of the new cast members for third season such as Aaron Paul, Vincent Cassel, and Lena Waithe.

Paul plays a construction worker named Caleb who is described as having “a complicated past who is just trying to survive in the world.” He crosses paths with Dolores and obviously his world is about to get even more complicated.

The trailer gives us a taste of even more of the intriguing imagery and even some violence that the show has always been known for. Chaos is brewing now that the hosts are out of the park and we’ll just have to wait till next year to see what havoc they will wreak.

Westworld season 3 will premiere on HBO in 2020.
