Star Wars: Episode IX Title, Teaser, and Photos Revealed at Celebration

A huge movie update came out of Star Wars Celebration. We now have a title, teaser, and new photos for Star Wars: Episode IX. The Episode IX panel was moderated by super fan Stephen Colbert and welcomed guests J.J. Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, Oscar Isaac, Billy Dee Williams, Naomi Ackie, Joonas Suotamo, and Anthony Daniels. Droids BB-8, R2-D2, and D-O were also on hand.

The full title is…

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

The title made it’s debut at the end of the teaser trailer that closed out the hour-long discussion. Have you seen it yet?

Tag line: Every generation has a legend.

What were some of the important take aways from the panel?

  • They’re in post. Director J.J. Abrams brought up that they were in the editing process.
  • The movie finishes the Skywalker arc.
  • Episode IX doesn’t immediately pick up after Star Wars: The Last Jedi. We don’t know how big the time jump is but there definitely is one.
  • We were introduced to two new characters. Welcome to the family, Jannah (Naomi Ackie) and D-O!
  • The audience loved reacting to the new character posters that came up periodically during the Q&A. Actually, there were a lot of positive reactions to things all around.
