WATCH: Killing Eve season two trailer

Killing Eve s2 trailerThe first trailer for the highly-anticipated second season of Killing Eve has dropped and it gives us a taste of what will surely be another thrilling ride.

The Guardian also revealed the release date of the season in April this year. Since it premiered, the show has become one of the most watched series on BBC iPlayer and received critical acclaim, ending up on various lists of the best television shows of 2018. Killing Eve is written and developed by Phoebe Waller Bridge, whose critically acclaimed comedy, Fleabag, will also air its second season in May of this year on Amazon Prime.

The short clip confirms (not that there had been any real doubt) that versatile assassin, Villanelle (played by Jodie Comer), survived her fatal encounter with MI5 officer Eve Polastri (played by Golden Globe Award-winner Sandra Oh) in the season one finale. Eve does not seem aware of this at first as she indiscreetly declares that she “might have killed her.” But the trailer also shows Villanelle struggling to leave a hospital bed, alive and well.

The rest of the clip also shows Villanelle as mischievous as ever, dressing up in more delightful disguises, and rooting around a kitchen looking for a potential murder weapon. Eve continues to pursue her though it is not clear whether Eve wants to bring the assassin to justice or if she has other intentions.

“Why are you and Villanelle so interested in each other?” asks Carolyn (played by Fiona Shaw) and hopefully we get some answers to this question in the next season as we witness this intriguing relationship unfold. From the trailer alone, it is clear that the show will be as addictive as ever.

Don’t miss Killing Eve season two on April 7 on BBC America.
