There May Be Hope For ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Beyond Season 6

When news of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s surprise season six renewal broke, many of us assumed that its shorter episode count – and airdate in the summer – meant that this would be the show’s last season. But according to ABC president Channing Dungey, that isn’t necessarily true.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dungey gives some reason for optimism when she talks about the possibility of more SHIELD:

We’ll see. I feel like last season was our strongest creative season ever and the fan base remains very loyal — and we do very well in delayed viewing. It’s my hope that by moving it to summer, where our live-same-day ratings are less important and it might be able to continue for longer.

While that’s not even close to a definite “yes”, it’s not a “no” either, and so it feels like fans can be encouraged. We’ll have to wait and see how these thirteen episodes go – and do our best to help keep the ratings decent if we want more.
