SDCC 2018: Ashleigh Murray and Casey Cott Talk S3 Of ‘Riverdale’

The one and only leader of the Pussycats, Ashleigh Murray (Josie McCoy), and her best friend Casey Cott (Kevin Keller) sat down at San Diego Comic-Con to talk what’s in store for their respective characters on season three of Riverdale.

Luckily for fans, Josie will have more involvement next season, especially in terms of the speakeasy Veronica (Camila Mendes) bought during season two’s finale. “Josie is gonna be running around the speakeasy that Veronica is opening up,” said Murray. “She’s going to be doing some music there also, with Kevin,” she added, as she leaned toward Cott.

It’s safe to say Josie’s family life is rough, as her mother was having an affair with Kevin’s father. Murray hoped that Josie would turn “inside out due to the family dynamic changes,” and mentioned that Josie will be playing with her music to examine her sound.

On top of Josie’s upcoming self-reflection, Murray will debut her red hair as Josie, which is similar to her comic-book counterpart’s hair color.

As for new on-screen relationships for Josie, Murray played it coy. “There is going to this brother-sister dynamic,” Murray said, as she pointed to Cott. “She’s going to have a couple of people I think that are gonna flow in-and-out of [Josie’s] space.” Cott adds that Josie “is a floater.”

As for Riverdale‘s ultimate best friend, Cott teased that “Kevin has some good stuff coming up,” adding that he has a good upcoming storyline with Josie. Though Kevin and Moose (Cody Kearsley) tried to keep their relationship under wraps, Cott confirmed that Moose will be his official boyfriend for the junior season.

“I think it’s healthy for Kevin to have a guy that’s consistent and not a felon,” Cott said, referencing Kevin’s ex-boyfriend Joaquin (Rob Raco).

Season 3 of Riverdale premieres Wednesday, October 10th at 9/8c on the CW.
