WATCH: First teaser for live-action Dumbo

The first teaser trailer for Disney’s live-action adaptation of Dumbo has just been released and it gives us a taste of this magical classic reimagined.

Collider reminds us that the animated version first captured hearts way back in 1941 when it won an Oscar for Best Scoring of a Musical Picture and was nominated for Best Original Song for “Baby Mine.”

This is the latest of Disney’s live-action adaptations of its animated canon. Recent successes are The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Pete’s Dragon, and Maleficent. There’s also the upcoming Winnie-the-Pooh film, Christopher Robin. Other future projects include Mulan, Aladdin, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid.

A lovely poster has also been released along with a lot of images from the trailer. The title character looks adorable in his live-action incarnation and it looks like the film has captured the same wonder of the original. Tim Burton previously directed the live-action version of Alice in Wonderland which was a darker take on the original animated film.

“From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure Dumbo expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.”

Dumbo is set to soar into theaters on March 29, 2019.
