WATCH: The new trailer for Stephen King’s Castle Rock series

Castle Rock HuluHulu announced that the horror-anthology series from J.J. Abrams and Stephen King, Castle Rock, will be premiering on July 25.

As previously reported, Castle Rock is the name of a fictional Maine town linked to many of the works of acclaimed author Stpehen King, including Cujo, The Dark Half, It, Needful Things, The Body, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, and many more.

Hulu also released a new teaser for the ten-episode series, showing even more creepy and unnerving scenes. Death row lawyer Henry Deaver (played by Andre Holland) returns home to find his adoptive mother Ruth (Sissy Spacek, the original Carrie), terrified in her own home. There are also glimpses of the infamous Shawshank prison where Bill Skarsgård (no longer playing Pennywise from It) is one of the inmates.

An ominous voiceover says it all:

“Whenever it began, whoever’s sin we are paying for, we are trapped in a cycle that stretches back centuries. There’s blood in every backyard, inside every house. People say it wasn’t me; it was this place. And the thing is, they’re right.”

Here is the official synopsis of the series:

“A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock is an original story that combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The series stars André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek, Bill Skarsgård, Jane Levy and Scott Glenn.

Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason developed the project for television and serve as executive producers along with J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson and Liz Glotzer. Castle Rock is from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.”
