Second Game of Thrones beer, Queen of the 7 Kingdoms, available in June

Queen of 7 Kingdoms Game of Thrones beerYou know your fantasy epic show is a success when it produces all sorts of merchandise. In the case of Game of Thrones, a second special beer has been announced by HBO and Ommegang Brewery.

According to an announcement by Ommegang, The Queen of the Seven Kingdoms is the second of four special beers in this year’s Game of Thrones-inspired Royal Reserve Collection. The beverage will be available only in the United States, starting this June 29.

Brewery president Doug Campbell explains why Cersei was the choice for this beer:

“Cersei is a complex character, and we’ve tried to emulate that profile with this beer, which blends a lovely, dry blonde ale with a subtly tart Belgian sour.”

HBO Vice President of Global Licensing and Retail Jeff Peters also expressed his excitement about the product:

“When we set out to create the Royal Reserve Collection, we knew we had to pay homage the character currently sitting on the Iron Throne. We’re very happy to present this tribute to the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms herself, Cersei Lannister.”

For all those beer enthusiasts, here’s a detailed description of the beer:

Queen of the Seven Kingdoms pours a pale gold color with a brilliant white head. Aromas of melon, citrus, and lactic acidity meld together with fruity esters from the Belgian yeast. Tart citrus flavors soften to sweet malt flavors with notes of apricots. The finish is dry and crisp with a subtle citrus bite from the lemon peel. Queen of the Seven Kingdoms pairs well with sharp aged cheeses and salty cured meats, red meat or dark poultry, and spiced desserts like pumpkin pie or apple tarts.”

The first of the Royal Reserve Collection was the Hand of the Queen. Two more Game of Thrones -themed beers are due to be launched in October and December 2018.

The final season of Game of Thrones is scheduled to premiere next year on HBO.
