WATCH: Second Trailer for ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’ Released Online

Legendary Entertainment has released a brand new trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising, the sequel to director Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 surprise hit Pacific Rim. With del Toro serving only as producer, Uprising is directed and co-written by Steven S. DeKnight who has previously served as writer and producer of Marvel’s Daredevil, Spartacus, and Smallville.

Uprising will see a few characters from Pacific Rim make their return including Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), Dr. Newton Geiszler (Charlie Day), and Herman Gottlieb (Burn Gorman). That being said, the sequel will focus heavily on Jake Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost, played by John Boyega (Star Wars: The Last Jedi).

Because Pacific Rim concluded with our heroes closing the breach that allowed these Kaiju to come through and show up on Earth, Uprising is tasked with figuring out a way of bringing the Kaiju back. The newly released trailer reveals that someone on the side of the humans has found a way to allow the Kaiju to resurface, and odds are that same person is in control of their own Jaeger, which Jake Pentecost and Scott Eastwood’s Nate Lambert will have to take on.

Pacific Rim: Uprising is set to released in theaters March 23rd. Check out the full trailer below followed by the Tokyo Comic Con 2017 Reel released last month, and feel free to let us know what you think in the comments.
