Thanos Arrives in First Official Trailer for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

It’s finally here! Marvel Studios has unveiled the first full trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, a culmination of nearly ten years of film-making beginning with 2008’s Iron Man, featuring the Marvel Comics villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) initially teased in 2012’s The Avengers.

Everyone’s who’s anyone will make their triumphant return, including all of your favorite established Avengers like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and a bearded Captain America (Chris Evans), just to name a few. Judging from the trailer we’re in for one wild ride that will take us from an epic battle in New York to some more action in the hidden, advanced African nation of Wakanda, which we’ll get to learn more about in in February’s release, Black Panther.

The stakes will be higher than they have ever been before as The Avengers will face a villain with near-infinite power. In addition to Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) himself making an appearance in this trailer we do see the return of other Marvel characters, though not all. A brewing romantic relationship is hinted at between Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olson) and Vision (Paul Bettany). Spider-Man (Tom Holland) is forced to wear Tony Stark’s more advanced Iron Spider suit. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is seen possibly double crossing his brother yet again, supplying the Tesseract to someone off screen. Bucky, a.k.a. The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), is seen sporting a brand new robotic arm, perhaps made from vibranium. And Thor, fresh off his Ragnarok adventure, meets up with the Guardians of the Galaxy – Starlord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), a teenage Groot (Vin Diesel), and newcomer Mantis (Pom Klementieff).

The only main Marvel characters not seen in this trailer include Hawkeye, Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and War Machine (Don Cheadle) is only briefly seen hovering behind in one shot. If we missed any others let us know in the comments and check out the full trailer below. Directed by The Russo Brothers (Captain America: Civil War), Avengers: Infinity War is set to release in theaters May 4, 2018.
