The latest trailer of Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead Men Tell No Tales gives us a brief glimpse of Keira Knightley, reprising her role as Elizabeth Turner (née Swann).
There were rumors about Knightley’s appearance in this latest film in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, but this was never confirmed. Several trailers have already been released but none showing Knightley. But she makes a very brief (blink and you might miss it!) appearance in one of the film’s international trailers.
Elizabeth Swann played a major role in the first three films of the series: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man’s Chest, and At World’s End. The third film saw her finally marrying Will Turner (played by Orlando Bloom, who will also be appearing in Dead Men Tell No Tales) but having to be left behind as he fulfils his responsibilities as the new captain of Davy Jones’ ship, ferrying the dead to the underworld. In the third film, Elizabeth was even elected as Pirate King, but it is uncertain what role she will be playing in the final chapter of the Pirates of the Caribbean saga.
In this movie, a family reunion is anticipated. Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) will be joined on his latest adventure, a quest to find the trident of Poseidon, by Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a young sailor from the Royal Navy, who is also the Turners’ son. Sparrow and Henry will be aided by Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, as they are pursued by the ruthless Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), who is determined to take his revenge of Jack Sparrow.
The film also stars Geoffrey Rush, David Wenham, Keith Richards, and Paul McCartney.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will premiere on May 26, 2017.
