Ed Sheeran reveals details of his Game of Thrones cameo

British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran finally says something about his upcoming role in Game of Thrones.

After it was announced last month that Sheeran would be appearing on the show, fans have grown excited about who he might be playing on the fantasy drama.

He spoke to Comic Book about this and teased some details. NME reports:

“I do know which role I am going to play…I don’t die in it, I don’t die. I’m only in it for like five minutes.”

This is good news for fans who are well aware of characters’ tendencies to get killed off suddenly and painfully in Game of Thrones.

Sheeran also added:

“I’d probably prefer to have sex than die in the show. I’m sure a lot of people are into that but I’m not.”

He went on to mention the involvement of his friend, Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody, in getting him a part. Lightbody previously appeared on the show back in 2013.

“My friend [Lightbody] guested in it in 2012 and I remember I was on tour with him and he was like: ‘Right, I’ve got a guest slot on Game of Thrones.’ I remember saying: ‘You got to get me on it at some point.’ It’s been five years so it’s finally come true.”

The seventh season is the penultimate season of the epic saga and will only have seven episodes as opposed to the usual ten. And the eighth and last season is reported to only have six episodes.

Game of Thrones season seven will premiere on July 16 on HBO.
