Game of Thrones movie rumors quashed

Fans hoping for a Game of Thrones movie are in for a disappointment.

GRRM EmmysLast week, UK tabloid The Daily Star published an article about a supposed Game of Thrones movie in the works, quoting an alleged discussion with author George R.R. Martin during the HBO Emmys after-party this year. The news started trending on various social media networks and many fans were excitedly looking forward to this upcoming project, which would supposedly cover the period of Robert Baratheon’s rebellion.

Unfortunately these claims are false, according to a report by Tech Insider. Martin himself addressed the rumors on a post on his LiveJournal account where, when asked about the movie, he replied:

“…Completely false. No one is working on any movie. And if there was a movie, it would not be about Robert’s Rebellion.”

Martin’s dedicated fans also took to Twitter to debunk the rumors.

The sixth season of Game of Thrones is currently in production and due to air in 2016.
