The Hobbit Trilogy Extended Edition Returns to Cinemas

The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey EEFans of Peter Jackson’s epic adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy classic will have the opportunity to watch the entire trilogy in cinemas this October during a special three-night event, Variety reports.

Middle-Earth awaits all those who wish to take the journey “there and back again”, this time with loads of extra scenes projected on the big screen, as they were meant to be seen. This three-night event will be presented by Fathom Events, New Line Cinema, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and Warner Bros. Pictures.

This will also mark the world premiere of the extended edition of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, including 20 minutes of additional action-packed footage of our favorite characters fighting the forces of evil. Director Peter Jackson will also give a special on-screen introduction to the trilogy.

The Hobbit BOTFA EEThe Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will play on October 5, followed by The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on October 7, and finally, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will conclude the saga on October 13. The screenings will start at 7:30 p.m. local time in 500 theaters in the U.S.

“We are excited to give fans the first chance to see the extended editions of this trilogy in cinemas,” Fathom Events CEO John Rubey told Variety. He added:

“The incredible cinematography and action in each feature will be even better on the big-screen and will give Hobbit fans a chance to binge-watch as a community.”
