Thor The Dark World--Erik SelvigEven though The Avengers: Age of Ultron has already finished filming, we’re still getting news about who’s in it. And apparently a familiar face will be making a return.

Stellan Skarsgard, who played the scientist Dr. Erik Selvig, a character first introduced in Thor and who returned for both the first Avengersfilm and for the Thor sequel, Thor: The Dark World, will once again grace our screens for a bit of exposition. He confirmed his involvement in Age of Ultron during an interview with Total Film, but don’t expect him to have a huge role. Here’s what he had to say about his appearance in the upcoming film:

I’m going to be in Avengers: Age of Ultron, a small appearance. I don’t know what I’m allowed to say. But usually they call me in if they need something explained [to the audience]. There’s a lot of explanations to do when it comes to that universe.

So it sounds like he’ll be making a brief cameo, though just why he’ll be there when there’ll already be plenty of scientists around is unknown.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron will arrive in theaters on May 1, 2015. What role do you think Dr. Selvig will play? Will it be connected in any way to Tony’s creation of Ultron? Tell us what you think in the comments!
