Matthew Vaughn, director and co-writer of X-Men: First Class, will not be directing the sequel to First Class. The sequel to the prequel (that feels weird to say) is titled X-Men: Days of Future Past and was co-written by Vaughn, but he has decided to step down from the director’s chair for this round. Who his replacement will be is currently unknown. Bryan Singer, the director of the first two X-Men films, is a producer for the upcoming film, so maybe he’ll return to the helm but for now we can’t say.
Days of Future Past, the second installment of a planned trilogy, has a due date of July 18, 2014, with production scheduled to begin once Jennifer Lawrence finishes work on Catching Fire in early 2013. But with this change of directors will that date change? Again, we can’t say. Hopefully, this will all be cleared up soon and we can go back to flailing in anticipation in peace.
