In celebration of Tolkien Week, which is the 75th anniversary of the publication of The Hobbit, Peter Jackson promised us a new trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and today he delivered. This latest look at the highly anticipated film feels as epic as any of the Lord of the Rings movies but with more humor, much like the books themselves.
Check out the new trailer below:
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released in theaters on December 14.
What did you think of the new trailer? Let us know in the comments below!

I think it looks fantastic! More lighthearted than LOTR, but the book is; that’s kind of the point. I know there’s all these shenanigans with the second and apparently now third movies, and jury’s out on that, but at least I don’t see that affecting the first movie.
I saw Fellowship 26 times in the theatre (yes, I know I’m insane, but I was also 22)…and I am so not excited for this film it confuses me.
Honestly I think as long as the Hobbit movie(s) sticks to the Hobbit plot (and we’re not sure for how long they’ll do that), I’ll be happy. My dad read The Hobbit to me when I was a kid, so I have total warm fuzzies about it. But it does look, tonally, really different to LOTR, so that could be why it does have the same appeal.
